Harrods hotels planned around the world #New York #Paris #Cina
The company that owns Harrods is planning to open a string of luxury, Harrods-branded hotels in cities around the world.The internationally renowned Knightsbridge department store, which was sold by previous owner Mohammed Al Fayed to Qatar Holding in 2010, already operates an upmarket estate agents and a charter aircraft service under its name.
Qatar Holding now says it wants to develop the Harrods brand further in prime tourist locations.
It is considering building the hotels in major cities such as Kuala Lumpur, New York and Paris but has said that sites it already owns will be given preference, raising the possibility of there being a Harrods hotel at Chelsea Barracks in London.
The company is also looking at China as a potential base and will conduct market and feasibility studies to find suitable sites.
